Drive system parts for fitness equipment
Is your fitness machine’s drive system or resistance no longer working correctly? This parent category includes motors, mainboards, cranks, pedals, running belts, running decks, resistance cables and brake pads. Choose the appropriate type of part and always check the brand, model number and technical specifications.
Drive system parts for fitness equipment
The drive system ensures that movement and resistance within a fitness machine are correctly transferred or controlled. The components used vary considerably between machines. A treadmill, for example, has a motor, running belt and rollers, while a fitness bike uses cranks, pedals and a mechanical or electronic resistance system.
Cranks and pedals
On exercise bikes, indoor cycles and other fitness bikes, cranks connect the pedals to the bottom bracket axle. Our fitness equipment pedals category includes complete pedals, footplates, pedal straps and related components. When replacing them, check left and right sides, threading, dimensions and the specific machine model.
Running belts, decks and rollers
The moving running belt passes over the running deck and is guided by the front and rear rollers. Wear in one component can place extra strain on others. If you notice slipping, jerking or unusual noises, check the entire running system, including the treadmill rollers.
Motors and mainboards
Electric fitness machines use motors and control electronics for functions such as drive, incline or other movements. Browse our fitness equipment motors and mainboards. These components must be technically and electronically compatible with the machine; a similar connector or housing is not enough.
Resistance cables and brake pads
In mechanically controlled resistance systems, a resistance cable transfers movement from the adjustment knob to the braking mechanism. Fitness equipment brake pads create resistance against the flywheel on certain indoor cycles and other machines. Check the length, connection, shape and mounting position when replacing them.
Pull cords and springs
Pull cords are used to transfer the training movement or resistance, among other functions. Fitness equipment springs can return components to position, support them or keep them under tension. Length, pulling force, mounting points and construction must match the original component.
How do you identify the faulty component?
Problems such as slipping, stiff movement, jerking or an intermittent drive can have several causes. A motor that does not turn may also be caused by the power supply, wiring or mainboard. A running belt that tracks to one side is not necessarily worn; it may be incorrectly aligned or tensioned. Check the entire system first.
Are drive system parts universal?
Most drive system parts are model-specific. Dimensions, power, voltage, connections, direction of rotation and mechanical mounting may differ between machines. Use the original part number where possible and check the brand, model number, serial number and model version.
Dismantling and installing safely
Switch electric fitness equipment off and unplug it from the mains before opening a housing. Account for heavy components, stored spring tension and moving mechanisms. Record the connections and original assembly, then test the machine without a load or at low speed after replacement.
