Lubricants for fitness equipment
The right lubricant helps you maintain moving fitness equipment components and reduce unnecessary friction and wear. Here you can find lubricants for treadmills and other fitness machines. Always check the manual before use and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Why lubricate fitness equipment?
Moving components may contact each other during use and cause friction. A suitable lubricant helps them move smoothly and can reduce unnecessary strain and wear. Which components need lubrication varies by type of fitness machine.
Lubricants for treadmills
On many treadmills, the running belt needs periodic lubrication. Lubricant is applied between the belt and running deck to reduce friction. How often this is needed depends on the model, intensity of use and manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.
Which lubricant do you need?
Not every lubricant is suitable for every fitness machine. Composition and application may differ between products. Check that the lubricant is intended for your machine and the relevant component. Do not use household oil, universal grease or another product unless the manufacturer specifies it.
How do you use lubricant safely?
Switch electrical fitness equipment off and unplug it from the mains before starting maintenance. Clean the relevant surface first if necessary and do not apply more lubricant than recommended. Keep it off handles, pedals, brake components and other surfaces that must retain grip.
How often should you lubricate fitness equipment?
There is no universal maintenance interval for all fitness equipment. The required frequency depends on the machine, construction and use. Consult the manual and regularly check for stiff movement, unusual noises and other signs of additional friction.
Lubrication does not replace worn components
A lubricant can reduce friction but cannot repair damaged or worn parts. If the machine continues to move stiffly, jerkily or noisily, check bearings, rollers, belts and running belts, among other components. If in doubt, have the machine examined by a qualified professional.
