Springs and spring components for fitness equipment
Springs are used in fitness equipment for return movement, tension, support or controlled movement of components. Here you can find individual springs, return springs, spring assemblies and folding shocks for a range of brands and models. Always check the machine model, function, dimensions and mounting details before ordering.
What are springs used for in fitness equipment?
A spring’s function varies between machines. In a rowing machine, a return spring may form part of the mechanism that retracts the pull cord. Other springs support moving parts, keep components under tension or help fold and unfold a fitness machine.
Which types of spring components are available?
The range may include individual metal springs, complete spring assemblies, return springs and supporting folding shocks. These components work in different ways and are not interchangeable. Check not only the shape, but above all the original function within the machine.
When should you replace a spring?
Replacement may be needed if a spring is broken, deformed, rusty or noticeably stretched. Insufficient return movement, loss of tension or a component that is no longer properly supported may also indicate wear. Check the mounting points and surrounding components for damage too.
Are fitness equipment springs universal?
No, springs with the same length or diameter may have different spring forces and load capacities. Wire thickness, coils, ends, preload and mounting method may also differ. Only use a spring suitable for the application concerned and the specific machine.
How do you find the right spring component?
Identify the fitness machine’s brand and full model designation and compare them with the product description. Check the part number where possible. For an individual spring, measure the length, diameter and attachment ends, among other details, but do not use these dimensions as the only compatibility criterion.
Is the spring or another component faulty?
A mechanism that no longer returns correctly is not always caused by the spring. A pull cord, elastic cord, cable, hinge or guide may also be stuck or damaged. Check the complete mechanism before choosing the replacement component.
Replacing a spring safely
Springs and folding shocks may be under tension and can release or move unexpectedly during removal. Unload the machine, support movable parts and record how the component is installed beforehand. If in doubt, have replacement carried out by someone experienced in repairing fitness equipment.
