Product description

Develop an iron grip with the Pivot Fitness Heavy Grip Hand Trainer. Where standard plastic grippers quickly fall short, this robust gripper is specifically designed for serious strength training of your hands, fingers, and forearms.

The Heavy Grips are built from a thick steel torsion spring and two solid handles made of high-quality aluminum. Thanks to the machine-applied knurling, you are always assured of maximum hold. This ensures the trainer never slips out of your hands, even during the heaviest, sweatiest sessions.

Choose your ideal resistance level

What makes these trainers truly "Heavy" is the extreme resistance. Where a regular hand trainer often stops at 30 or 40 kg, the Heavy Grips only just begin the real heavy lifting. Choose the variant that fits your goals:

Level Estimated Weight Target Group
Beginner ± 68 kg (150 lbs) General fitness and a challenging warm-up.
Intermediate ± 90 kg (200 lbs) Athletes who already train with weights on a regular basis.
Advanced ± 113 kg (250 lbs) Serious strength athletes, powerlifters, and climbers.
Elite ± 160 kg (350 lbs) The absolute world elite in raw grip strength.

Why train with Heavy Grips?

  • Better Deadlift and Pulling Strength: You are simply only as strong as your grip. If your hands cannot hold the weight, you can never maximally overload your back and legs.
  • Massive Forearms: It is one of the most effective ways to build truly thick, muscular forearms.
  • Functional Strength: Indispensable for martial arts (such as BJJ and Judo), climbing, tennis, and heavy daily tasks.
  • Injury Prevention: Strong tendons and muscles in the hand and forearm can help prevent annoying complaints like tennis elbow.

How do you train with a Heavy Grip?

You don't train with this tool the way you would use a stress ball (squeezing a hundred times mindlessly). Because the resistance is extremely high, you treat it as proper strength training:

  • Low Repetitions: Focus on sets of 5 to 10 full and controlled closes (where the handles touch each other).
  • Static Holds: Squeeze the trainer completely shut and hold this position for as long as possible.
  • Negative Reps: Use both hands to close the trainer, let go with one hand, and then try to resist the opening with one hand as slowly and controllably as possible.
Tip: Be careful not to overtrain right away. The tendons in your hands recover more slowly than large muscle groups. Therefore, consciously start with a slightly lower weight to let your hands, fingers, and wrists safely adjust to the high pressure!
